After the first day on Tenerife, the ferry brought Steffi, Katja, Solveig and Jess to Gran Canaria, the 2nd stop of the trip. The girls got a couple of hours of sleep, but early in the morning it was time to get ready and get out for riding and shooting. Philipp Foltz from Atlantic Cycling already had the idea where to go, so that the girls could have fun and our photographer Daniel Geiger got some good shots for the day.

Gran Canaria is located southeast of Tenerife and west of Fuerteventura. The island is of volcanic origin, mostly made of fissure vents. Gran Canaria is the most populous island of the Canary Islands. The highest peak Pico de Las Nieves is about 1949 meters. It´s also a good place for surfing and windsurfing. Björn Dunkerbeck has been living on Cran Ganaria and started his career from this beautiful island. But besides water sports you have mountains which offers a lot of amazing rides. It offers a lot of natural riding trails, but you have to know where to find it and be able to read a map.

After some riding on natural hiking trails, the girls found another nice playground offered by the volcanic landscape of Gran Canaria. Perfect natural drops....

and for the speed and adrenalin perfect high speeds descents. Just open the brakes and let it roll on the volcanic soil.

Pictures are always easy looking, but before some descent....there is the problem of getting to the top. Hard work in the Canarian sun for Katja

A long day of riding and shooting comes to an end. Time has flown by as always when you're out and riding in amazing scenery. The girls were ready to catch the next ferry boat in the evening...still three islands are waiting...

If you missed Part One you can find it here.

You can follow the girls through their season on facebook.

Big thanks goes out to Trek, Bontrager, adidas eyewear, and sixsixone for making this Team possible. Special thanks to all the guys at the Trek Race Department who are looking after all Trek Athletes and making the custom Trek Gravity Girls bikes possible. Atlantic Cycling for knowing the best spots on the Canary Islands.

Stay tuned for Part Three...which one will be the next island to be discovered?

Canary Islands are amazing! There are part of Spain, located in front of the coast of Africa. It's the "European Union Hawaii" good place for outdoors, sports like surfing and of course mountian biking, every island have his own type of trails. Tenerife it's incredible for riding in winter season with average temperatures of 20ºC, perfect! A lot of people in Europe go to a surf trip to Canary Islands, why not a mtb trip?
Cheers from Spain!

no triple back flipping is a progression and carbon v-10's and fox inverted trple crowns , and all the dh and 4xworldcups, and the latest dirt jump comps etc.......this article is just lame. pinkbike should stop posting articles like this and other gay little 'epic' crosscountry rides!

i just looked at all those photos and props to the girls for riding ft william cuz i never have. i just think pink bike needs to be more orienbted to dh and dj and less oriented with crosscountry and road. i just dont think this article is very 'news' worthy.....its kinda like how cnn or fox news broadcasts stuff about paris hilton or other celebrities...its irrelevent and no one really cares.
